Project title: Novel Education Tools to Foster Local Ecosystem Sustainability Practices

This project is funded by the European Union through the Resilience, Sustainable Energy and Marine Biodiversity Programme (RESEMBID). Financed under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) Caribbean OCT Regional Programme, RESEMBID is being implemented by Expertise France, with the primary stakeholders being the 12 Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories.

Positions Available

The below positions are needed to complete ocean literacy projects on Bonaire and the Turks and Caicos as well as sargassum education projects in the European Overseas Countries and Territories of the greater Caribbean basin.

Remote Journalism Position

Our project titled Novel Education Tools to Foster Local Ecosystem Sustainability Practices needs to fill a remote contractor position in the area of Journalism with experience in multicultural communications. Journalism and Communications students are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have to:

Organize several Press Conferences in the Turks and Caicos, Bonaire, Belize, Quintana Roo and Belize.

Will need to write and distribute 10 Press Releases in the aforementioned countries, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the EU Overseas Countries and Territories. MCB will provide translations services needed.

Experience with biocultural and pancultural content are required for these positions.

Science Editors-You will be comparing primary school and middle school content to the current scientific literature and editing as required. You will also file a report to the Lead and Project Manager. A minimum of a MS in Biology is required for this position.

Translator for Dutch-Must be familiar translating scientific writing from English to Dutch.

Ethnotranslator for Papiamentu-Must be familiar with enthotranslating scientific concepts into traditionally oral languages.

Ethnotranslator for Kreyòl Ayisyen-Must be familiar with enthotranslating scientific concepts into traditionally oral languages.

Copy Editors for biocultural curricula projects for Bonaire and TCI. Experience in biocultural and pan-Caribbean content is required.

One illustrator or graphic designer to create imagery cover pages for each chapter and for the cover.

Designer to format biocultural textbooks. This position requires the successful candidate to format 4 biocultural textbooks. Must be familiar with scientific writing styles and traditional oral languages or bilingual, biocultural curricula.

MCB is also looking for a publishing and/or printing company that is familiar with the aforementioned languages and biocultural content to perform publishing and printing tasks associated with this project.
